Movie Weesperflat 50 years

The student flat at the Weesperstraat was the first great work of Herman Hertzberger, in collaboration with TJ. Hazewinkel and H. A. Dicke.

The award-winning design dates from 1959, while construction was completed in 1966. "A building should not convey an atmosphere that discourages because the building is to beautiful" Hertzberger said in 1967 in the Volkskrant when he won the architecture prize. Low-key design was the main focus in this building for 250 students.
