'Breda’s new city theatre is just outside the historic centre of the city. On one side it borders the city offices and on the other side a wing of the partly demolished Kloosterkazerne whose end wall was included in the new building. In order to avoid the clumsy stage towers overwhelming the view of the city the conglomeration was entirely roofed in with an undulating roof. The double undulation across the two stage towers which continue as a cascade down over the halls and foyer spaces ensures that no part protrudes too prominently. Parts of the slope can be seen from various spots in the city. They fit supply into the urban roof landscape.'
